UNBEATEN RUN

Lionel Messi made sure that Barcelona’s unbeaten run in the ongoing Champions League would continue as he scored a brilliant leveller against AC Milan yesterday night.

The match eventually ended in the form of a draw and both the teams were given one point each. With that one point, Barcelona’s points tally went to 7 and they remained the first team in the Group H points table.

The start of the match was pretty disastrous for Barca as they conceded a goal in the 9th minute. It was Robinho who gave the visitors that blow.

But, Messi as always came in the rescue of Barca again in the 24th minute. He got a superb pass from Andres Iniesta, but, he still had to get rid of a couple of opposition players. He fumbled a bit, but, he eventually managed to go past both of them and then, with a crisp shot, he found the bottom corner of the net to make the score 1-1.

Quite a few superstars were going to feature in this Milan-Barca match and it was expected to be a full house at San Siro. It turned out to be a full house indeed as close to 75,000 spectators were out there to cheer for their favourite players.

Messi was the main attraction as he was coming back after recovering from a thigh problem. Some people might have expected him to be a bit rusty, but, the Argentinean didn’t look like that at all. He was fluent right from the word go.

Barcelona and AC Milan will again take on each other in a couple of weeks. That match will be played at Estadio Camp Nou and a victory there for Barca would put them in a great position to qualify for the next round.
